The main programmatic components include Health System Strengthening, Reproductive- Maternal- Neonatal-Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A), and control of Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases. The NHM envisages achievement of universal access to equitable, affordable and quality health care services that are accountable and responsive to people’s needs. National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was launched in 2005 to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare to the rural population, especially vulnerable groups. The National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) was approved in 2013 as a sub-mission under an overarching NHM with NRHM being the other sub-mission.
