Solution

Statement 1 is incorrect: Act provided for the establishment of the All-India Federation comprising the Provinces and the princely states. Since the princely states did not join hence such a federation was never operationalized. ● Statement 3 is incorrect: Act abolished Dyarchy at the provincial level (introduced in the provinces in 1919) and introduced Dyarchy at the centre Level (Division of Federal subjects into two categories- Reserved and Transferred). Provincial autonomy was introduced at the provinces while the Dyarchy at the Federal level was not operationalized. Government of India Act 1935 – Salient Features §  Federalism §  3 Legislative Lists   §  Provincial Autonomy §  Parliamentary form of Govt §  Dyarchy at Central Government   ● Statement 5 is incorrect: The Council of India provided to assist the Secretary of State was abolished. The Secretary of State was provided with a team of advisors. His powers were not increased ● Statement 2, 4 and 6 are correct: The act provided for setting up- Federal public service commission, provincial public service commission, joint public service commission, federal court, Reserve Bank of India ● It divided the powers between the centre and units in terms of three lists- Federal list, provincial list and the concurrent list. Residuary powers were given to the Viceroy. However, this federation never fructified since princely states did not join it. ● The Act 1935 confirmed that separation of Burma from India would occur on April 1, 1937, ending 51 years of the country being ruled as a province of India.
