Question
The perimeter of a rectangle is 100% more than perimeter
of a square of side 20 cm. If the length of rectangle is 180% more than side of square then find the difference between the area of square and the area of rectangle.Solution
Perimeter of the square = 4 x 20 = 80 cm Perimeter of the rectangle = 80 x (200/100) = 160 cm Length of the rectangle = 20 x (280/100) = 56 cm Let the breadth of the rectangle be b cm. => 2 x (56 + b) = 160 => b = 80 – 56 => b = 24 cm Required difference = (56 x 24) - (20 x 20) = 944
