Approximately 60 percent of the plantation work planned by NHAI in 2026–27 will be implemented under the Bee Corridor initiative. The programme aims to convert highway landscapes into ecological corridors that support pollinator populations such as honeybees and other beneficial insects. Instead of ornamental roadside plants, the plantations will consist of pollinator-friendly native species including neem, karanj, mahua, palash, jamun, siris, and bottle brush. The goal is to create continuous flowering zones that provide nectar and pollen throughout the year, supporting both biodiversity conservation and agricultural productivity.
