In 2025, global private equity and venture capital funding in artificial intelligence reached $225.8 billion, but India’s share in this global investment pool was only 0.6 percent. This relatively small share highlights the challenges faced by Indian AI startups in attracting large volumes of global capital compared with leading innovation hubs. Although India recorded $1.34 billion in AI funding across 198 deals during 2025, its contribution to global AI investment remains limited. The data also indicates that the global AI ecosystem is heavily concentrated in a few regions, with the United States and Europe capturing a large portion of total funding.
