The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation constituted the Advisory Committee on National Account Statistics (ACNAS) as part of the process of revising the base year of India’s National Accounts. The committee was chaired by Prof. B. N. Goldar, an economist known for his work in industrial economics and productivity analysis. The committee was tasked with recommending methodological improvements, incorporating new data sources, and enhancing the accuracy of national income estimates. It also oversaw the work of several specialised sub-committees focusing on areas such as methodological improvements, constant price estimates, regional accounts and updates to the System of National Accounts.
