The NARI 2025 ranking listed Mumbai among the safest cities for women, alongside Visakhapatnam, Kohima, Bhubaneswar, Aizawl, Gangtok, and Itanagar. In contrast, cities such as Patna, Jaipur, Faridabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Srinagar, and Ranchi were ranked among the least safe. The report covered 12,770 women across 31 cities and provided a national safety score of 65%. Mumbai’s inclusion among the top-ranked cities indicates relatively stronger indicators of gender equity, civic participation, policing, and women-friendly infrastructure as per the survey results.
