The Ujani reservoir restoration project highlights

Ujani reservoir is described as a man-made wetland along the Bhima River that provides multiple ecosystem services: it supports agriculture, hydroelectric power generation, drinking water supply, and local fisheries, and is an Important Bird Area along the Central Asian Flyway—critical habitat for migratory birds. The restoration program aims to balance biodiversity conservation with the economic well-being of communities relying on these services, and includes eco-tourism, training of bird guides and anglers, and sustainable fishing practices. The project is jointly supported by BNHS with backing from the Cipla Foundation, and marks direct WRD involvement in biodiversity conservation.
