The Government of India extended the tenure of DRDO Chairman Samir V. Kamat by one year under Fundamental Rule 56(d) , which permits service extension beyond the retirement age. His earlier extension was due to end in May 2025, but has now been extended till May 31, 2026 , as approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet .
