Aaranyak launched the 'Gajah Kotha' campaign to address the human-elephant conflict (HEC) in Assam. The campaign aims to promote coexistence between local communities and elephants in eastern Assam. The initiative educates HEC-affected villages about elephant behavior, ecology, and their cultural significance. Aaranyak, along with the British Asian Trust and Assam Forest Department, implements the campaign with support from the Darwin Initiative. Over 1,200 HEC-affected people have been reached through 24 'Gajah Kotha' campaigns. The campaigns were conducted in various locations, including Majuli, Dibruagarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, and Jorhat. Local organizations collaborated with Aaranyak to engage community members and discuss innovative approaches to human-wildlife coexistence.
