The erstwhile rural housing scheme Indira Awas Yojana was restructured into Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G). PMAY-G came into effect from 1st April 2016. Objective is to provide pucca houses to all who are houseless and living in dilapidated houses in rural areas by 2022. ● The target of Housing for all to be achieved in 2 phases: ○ To achieve “Housing for all” by 2022, the number of houses that need to be constructed is 2.95 crore.
