Objective of the scheme is To form & promote 10,000 FPOs in a 5 year period from 2019-20 to 2023-24 to ensure Economies of Scale for Farmers. Ministry of Agriculture is the nodal ministry. The formation of FPO will be based on the Produce Cluster Area approach & specialized commodity-based approach. While adopting a cluster-based approach, the formation of FPOs will be focussed on “One District One Product” for the development of product specialization. 2 credit guarantee funds have been created under the scheme: Worth 1000 crore under NABARD and Worth 500 crore under NCDC (National Cooperative Development Corporation).
