    NEP lays emphasis on Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) which include gender, socio-cultural, and geographical identities and disabilities The National Scholarship Portal will be expanded to support, foster, and track the progress of students receiving scholarships. Also, every state/district will be encouraged to establish “Bal Bhavans” as a special daytime boarding school. Further, free boarding facilities will be built, in line with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, in school locations where students may have to come from far, and particularly for students who from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with suitable arrangements for the safety of all children, especially girls. Also, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas will be strengthened and expanded to increase the participation in quality schools (up to Grade 12) of girls from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds
