In what order do managers typically perform the managerial functions?

According to prominent writers in management, the most important functions of managers and the order in which they are performed, are  1) Planning (relates to deciding the plans and means to achieve the goals of the organization) 2) Organizing (synchronizing the physical, financial and human resources), 3) Staffing (hiring the right personnel and developing them to achieve organizational goals; it included manpower planning, recruitment and placement, training & development, remuneration, performance appraisal and promotions & transfers)  4) Directing (supervising, motivating, leading and communicating the personnel in the organization) 5) Controlling (measuring results against standards and taking corrective action) As such, profitability is not a function of HRM, but a by-product of good HRM practice in the organization.
