Antioxidants such as BHA or BHT have been widely used for many years to preserve freshness, flavor, and colour of foods and animal feeds as well as to improve the stability of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. There are many controversies about the use of these two antioxidants in foods. Some experimental studies have reported that both BHT and BHA have tumour-promoting activity .On the other hand, there were reports on anticarcinogenic properties of these antioxidants when they are used at low concentrations. Ethoxyquin  (EMQ) is a quinoline-based antioxidant used as a food preservative.
