द्वंद्व समास में दोनों पदों का समान महत्व होता है , यानी पूर्व पद और उत्तर पद दोनों ही प्रधान होते हैं। इस समास में दोनों पदों के बीच कोई विशेष प्राथमिकता नहीं होती , और दोनों ही मिलकर अर्थ का निर्माण करते हैं। उदाहरण : राम - लक्ष्मण ( राम और लक्ष्मण ) में दोनों नाम समान महत्व रखते हैं।
