Railway Protection Force Constable Exam Pattern
The RPF Constable is serves a promising career and a great opportunity in the field of Armed forces but the journey to get there is not easy. You have to be extra ready and extra cautious about the process you are going to face in becoming an RPF Constable.
Before starting Railway Protection Force Constable, it is important that aspirants are well verse with topics and the detailed syllabus for the exam. The RPF Constable Exam Recruitment process possess three phases:
- CBT (Computer Based Test)
- PET/PMT (Physical Efficiency/Physical Measurement Test)
- Document Verification
Here the RPF Constable Syllabus only implies in the CBT or 1st stage of the process. The rest of the stages are all about the candidate’s physical ability.
RPF Constable CBT (Computer Based Test)
The RPF Constable CBT is the very first process of recruitment, every individual who has applied for this exam will have to qualify this test to get into further process. The RPF Constable CBT possess 120 questions that have to be completed within the time duration of 90 minutes. RPF Constable CBT Exam Syllabus
Now it is important for candidates to know what to study for the RPF Constable CBT Exam. There the RPF Constable CBT Syllabus is mentioned in the table present below:

Questions will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society; to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observations and experiences as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to Indian History, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, General Science etc.

Please note:
- 1 mark will be given for every right answer. However, a negative marking of 1/3rd mark is there for every incorrect answer. Apart from that, no mark is there for the unattempted one.
- The minimum qualifying percent in the CBT exam is 35% for UR, EWS, and OBC- NCL candidates and 30% for SC and ST candidates.
- To possess the minimum qualifying marks is necessary for candidates in the CBT Exam to get shortlisted for the PET/PMT Exam.
RPF Constable PET/PMT Exam
The Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Measurement Test is for the shortlisted candidates from the CBT Exam. The candidates belonging to ex-servicemen category are exempted from the PET, they have to go only through the PMT Test. However, the rest of the candidates have to go through both tests. The aim of this stage is to evaluate candidates from their fitness and physical perspective, whether they are physically eligible for the RPF Constable post or not. There will be two rounds of PET and PMT. The number of candidates called for this test will be 10 times the number of total vacancies based on their merit in the CBT. However, the preferably, if the number of vacancies dedicated to the female and ex-service candidates does not fill up until the second round of this test, then those vacancies will be filled by the male candidates. Another major thing to consider here is that apart from RPF Constable eligibility criteria, there is a category wise criteria set for both PET and PMT to qualify the process. Refer to the table below to know about the category wise criteria for the PMT and PET.

Please note that the PET and PMT are qualifying in nature, there will be no marks given for any aspect of this test. All you have to do is meet the set standards for these tests for both Physical Efficiency and Physical Measurement Test.
RPF Constable Document Verification (DV)
The Document verification is the final stage of the RPF Constable recruitment process. All the shortlisted candidates from the CBT and PET/PMT will be called up for the Document verification process. These candidates have to come up with the set of required candidates. Here are some of the things to be considered at the time of document verification.
- There will be no relaxation given to any of the reserved or unreserved category candidates. This process is done completely on the basis of merit. However, in case there are two candidates having the same marks, the selection will be done on the basis of their age, senior aged candidates will be given preference by the authorities.
- If there is a case of same age and same merit, then the selection will be done on the basis of candidate's name on the basis of ascending alphabetical order.
- The Railway Recruitment Board will only recommend the names of shortlisted candidates names, the posting process will be offered by the respective zones/ RSPF (Railway protection security force).
- Shortlisted candidates have to appear at the DV with the original copies of their required documents along with the 2 self-attested photocopies of each of them.
- Candidates also have to upload the scanned copies of their documents on the Railway Recruitment Board Portal.
- List of Documents Required at the Time of Document Verification Process
- 10th /Matriculation Certificate as proof of age.
- 10th /Matriculation Certificate as proof of educational qualification.
- Caste Certificate (for SC, ST & OBC-NCL candidates) in the format prescribed for employment under Central Government.
- Discharge Certificate for Ex-Servicemen, e. Two copies of self-attested colour photograph, No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the present employer in case of serving Govt. Employees, g. Domicile certificate wherever applicable.
- Certificate belonging to Economically Weaker Section in the format prescribed for employment under Central Government.
Medical Examination
The candidates who appear in Document Verification will be sent for a medical examination at the Railway Hospitals. They will have to qualify in medical category ‘B-1’ as prescribed in the Indian Railway Medical Manual. Those wearing glasses or having flat foot, knock knee, squint eyes, color blindness and other bodily defects are not eligible for appointment. Sending for Medical examination will not guarantee employment and does not reflect that the candidate has been included in the select list.
Training
Selected candidates must complete initial training at an RPF/RPSF training center, or another institution chosen by the Railway Administration. It's essential to pass the final examination at the end of the training to join the Force.
