    Apply only through the LIC Careers page for AAO (Specialist) – Legal. The form is online. No paper form is used.

    Eligibility Criteria (LIC AAO Legal)

    Read these rules with care. They are only for the Legal stream.

    Age

    21 to 32 years on 01.08.2025 (age relax as per rules for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, and others as stated in the notice).

    Education

    • LL.B. degree from a UGC-approved college.
    • Marks: 50% (SC/ST/PwBD: 45%).

    Work & Bar

    • Bar Council registration is a must.
    • 2 years law work after you join the Bar.
    • Work can be as an Advocate, or as a Law Officer in a bank, finance body, a company, a board, or in Govt.

    Other rules

    • You must be an Indian citizen.
    • You need valid ID and name proof as per rules.
    • You must meet the health rules at the time of joining.

    Exam Pattern and Syllabus (Legal Only)

    This part covers the LIC AAO Legal exam pattern and a simple syllabus guide. The official notice names the parts of the test. It does not list full law topics. The guide below is based on common legal work in LIC.

    Phase I: Prelims (Screening)

    • Online MCQ test, total time 60 minutes.
    • Three parts with separate time.
    • Negative mark: 0.25 mark cut for each wrong answer.
    • You must pass each part.
    • Marks of Prelims do not add to the final rank.

    • English: basics of grammar, read and find ideas, word use, cloze, error find, jumble.
    • GA: news, policy, RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, and key events.

    • You must pass each part and the total.

    Objective test (with part-wise time)

    • Reasoning Ability: 30 Q / 30 marks / 20 min
    • General Awareness (with Insurance & Finance): 20 Q / 20 marks / 10 min
    • Professional Knowledge (Legal): 50 Q / 100 marks / 30 min

    Descriptive test (typed on the computer)

    • Professional Knowledge (Legal): write 4 out of 6 (long answers), 50 marks, 60 min (marks are scaled for merit as per notice)
    • English (Communication Skills): 2 tasks, 25 marks, 30 min — email, report, case note, or precis (qualify only)

    How marks work

    • Prelims: screen only; marks do not add to final rank.
    • Mains: makes the rank list for interview.
    • Interview: adds to final merit with Mains.

    Phase III: Interview (Legal)

    • Called by Mains rank and group list.
    • You must score the cut-off set by LIC.
    • Bring all original papers: law degree, Bar card, work proof, ID, photos.

    Application Fee (Online)

    • SC / ST / PwBD: ₹85 + tax + bank charges
    • All others: ₹700 + tax + bank charges

    Notes: Fee is not paid back once you submit. Pay with a card, UPI, or net banking. Save the e-receipt and form print.

    Admit Card (Call Letter)

    The LIC AAO Legal admit card is your entry pass for the test. It shows your roll number, date, shift, and test city.

    What to do

    • Download the admit card about 7 days before the test date.
    • Check your name, photo, and details.
    • Take the admit card print, a valid photo ID in original, and one copy.
    • Reach the center early.

    Number of Attempts (Legal)

    There is no set limit in the notice for LIC AAO Legal. But you can take the online test for this post only once in this recruitment. If you try more than once, all tries can be canceled. Age rules still apply.

    Probation Period (Legal)

    The first year after you join is a test period. This is called probation. It can be made 2 years if needed. Your work is checked in this time. If you do not meet the set marks of the job, the post can end.

    Service bond (Legal)

    • You must serve 4 years after you join.
    • If you leave early, you must pay ₹5,00,000 as per bond terms.

    Salary (LIC AAO Legal)

    The LIC AAO Legal salary has a high start. The basic pay is ₹88,635 per month (scale 88,635–1,69,025). In a big city, the start gross pay is about ₹1,26,000 per month (this can change by city and rules).
