IBPS RRB PO Eligibility Criteria 2024
The eligibility criteria for the IBPS RRB PO Exam play a pivotal role in ensuring that only qualified candidates apply. Applicants must adhere to the specified parameters to prevent the rejection of their application forms. The recently released RRB PO notification 2023 emphasizes the importance of meeting the eligibility criteria, making it essential for prospective candidates to familiarize themselves with these requirements.
Nationality is a fundamental criterion, and eligible candidates include Indian nationals, Nepalese subjects, Bhutanese subjects, refugees from Tibet who immigrated before January 1, 1962, to settle in India permanently, as well as Pakistani, Burmese, East African, or Sinhalese immigrants with the intent to settle in India permanently.
Applicants must verify their eligibility status based on nationality, as failure to meet these criteria could disqualify their application. Prospective candidates must carefully review and understand the specified conditions to ensure compliance.
These eligibility criteria serve as a foundation for the selection process, promoting a fair and transparent assessment of candidates. Aspirants are encouraged to thoroughly examine the detailed eligibility requirements provided by IBPS RRB PO, allowing them to gauge their qualifications accurately before initiating the application process. By doing so, candidates can enhance their chances of a successful application and subsequent participation in the examination process.
IBPS RRB PO Educational Criteria
Besides the nationality requirements, candidates applying for the IBPS RRB PO exam must meet specific educational qualifications. A crucial criterion is a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. This academic prerequisite is a foundational requirement, ensuring that candidates have acquired a certain level of educational proficiency.
Moreover, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in the local language, a criterion designed to facilitate effective communication within the regional context. Additionally, having a working knowledge of computers is considered advantageous, highlighting the increasing importance of technological skills in the banking sector.
Ensuring compliance with these educational qualifications is imperative for prospective candidates, as it forms the basis for eligibility and successful participation in the IBPS RRB PO examination. Aspirants are encouraged to thoroughly understand and fulfill these criteria to enhance their chances of a successful application and subsequent progression in the recruitment process.

Proficiency in the local language – For recruitment to IBPS RRB PO, proficiency in the local language as specified below, is an essential qualification:-
- Candidates who have studied the language of the State up to standard VIII or beyond in Government-recognized Boards of Education/Schools or possess a certificate verifying proficiency in the local language for standard VIII or a level beyond will be deemed as meeting the proficiency criteria for that particular language. This provision recognizes prior language education and certification as evidence of linguistic competence, ensuring that candidates with a demonstrated understanding of the local language are considered proficient. It emphasizes the importance of language skills acquired during earlier education levels and provides a practical and inclusive approach to assessing language proficiency for IBPS RRB PO candidates.
- Candidates not meeting the stipulated local language proficiency requirement at the time of selection for IBPS RRB PO will be granted six months, starting from the date of joining, to attain the necessary proficiency. The Boards of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) have the authority to extend this period based on the rules in place, with the condition that any extension granted should be, at most, the candidate's probationary period. This policy allows flexibility for candidates to acquire the required local language skills during their initial tenure as IBPS RRB PO, acknowledging the importance of language proficiency for effective communication in regional contexts. Within defined limits, the extension provision ensures a balanced approach, allowing candidates sufficient time to meet the language requirements while aligning with the overall probationary period framework.

The relaxation quantum is subject to the prevalent government guidelines and is usually expressed in years. For instance, SC/ST candidates might receive a relaxation of up to 5 years, while OBC candidates may get a relaxation of up to 3 years. Ex-servicemen and PwBD candidates also have specific age relaxation criteria.
Prospective applicants from these categories are encouraged to carefully review the detailed IBPS RRB PO notification for the specific examination year to ascertain the exact nature and extent of age relaxation applicable to their respective category.
