How many children does Mr. Raman has?

I. Mr. Raman has eight sons and each has one sister.

II. Number of sons of Mr. Raman is eight times the number of his daughter(s).

Solution

From I. Number of sons = 8. Number of daughter = 1. Hence, the total number of total children = 8 + 1 = 9 From II. Suppose number of daughter = x Hence, the number of total children = 8 x + x = 9 x Still we need the value of x. Hence II alone is not sufficient.
