Question
A container ‘X’ holds 400 litres of a solution which is
5/8th milk and the rest is water. 30% of this solution is poured into container ‘Y’, which already has 100 litres milk and 60 litres water. What will be the final ratio of milk to water in container ‘Y’?Solution
ATQ,
Quantity of milk in container ‘X’ = 400 × (5/8) = 250 litres
Quantity of water in container ‘X’ = 400 – 250 = 150 litres
Required ratio = {(0.30 × 250) + 100}:{(0.30 × 150) + 60} = (75 + 100):(45 + 60) = 175:105 = 5:3
