    Each of the questions given below has one question and two statements marked I and II.   You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer.

    What is Joy’s position in boys when counting from

    bottom? I. There are 80 students in the class and Joy is ranked fifteenth from the top, and there are 6 girls ahead of him. II. The ratio of number of girls to boys is 1:3.

    Solution

    From both I & II, We know that the total number of students = 80 Number of girls = 80 X ¼ = 20 Number of boys = 80 X ¾ = 60 We know that 6 girls are ahead of him which means out of total 14 students ahead of Joy, 6 are girls and 14-6 =8 are boys. Thus, 8 boys are ahead Joy + 1 Joy = 9 Total boys = 60 60 – 9 = 51 = Number of boys behind Joy. Thus, Joy is 52nd from the bottom.
