Question
What is Joy’s position in boys when counting from
bottom? I. There are 80 students in the class and Joy is ranked fifteenth from the top, and there are 6 girls ahead of him. II. The ratio of number of girls to boys is 1:3. Each of the questions given below has one question and two statements marked I and II. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer.Solution
From both I & II, We know that the total number of students = 80 Number of girls = 80 X ¼ = 20 Number of boys = 80 X ¾ = 60 We know that 6 girls are ahead of him which means out of total 14 students ahead of Joy, 6 are girls and 14-6 =8 are boys. Thus, 8 boys are ahead Joy + 1 Joy = 9 Total boys = 60 60 – 9 = 51 = Number of boys behind Joy. Thus, Joy is 52nd from the bottom.
