Question
Two towns D and E are 456 km apart. A car leaves D at 5:15
a.m. at 57 km/h. Another car leaves E at 6:45
a.m. towards D at 76 km/h. When will they meet?
Solution
Time gap = 1.5 hrs β Distance = 57 Γ 1.5 = 85.5 km
Remaining = 456 β 85.5 = 370.5 km
Relative speed = 133 km/h
Time = 370.5 / 133 β 2.786 hrs = 2h 47m
Meeting time = 6:45 a.m. + 2h 47m = 9:32 a.m.
