Question
Determine the area of the triangle whose vertices lie on the co-ordinates (2, 4), (4, 2), (-2, -5)
Solution
ATQ, Let, a1 = 2, a2 = 4, a3 = -2, b1 = 4, b2 = 2 and b3 = -5 Area of triangle = (1/2) × |{a1 × (b2 - b3)} + {a2 × (b3 - b1)} + {a3 × (b1 - b2 )}| So, required area = (1/2) × |{2 × (2 - (-5))} + {4 × (-5 - 4) + {-2 × (4 - 2)} = (1/2) × |14 - 36 - 4| = (1/2) × 26 = 13 square units
