    • Question

In a 10 km race, D, E, and F are running at uniform speed.

If ‘D’ beats ‘E’ by 2 km, and ‘E’ beats ‘F’ by 1 km, then by how many metres does ‘D’ beat ‘F’?
      A 1200 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      B 2550 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      C 2800 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      D 37400 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

When ‘D’ covers 10 km, ‘E’ will cover 8 km

Similarly, when ‘E’ covers 10 km, ‘F’ covers 9 km

      Therefore, when ‘E’ covers 8 km, then ‘F’ will cover = (8 × 9) / 10 = 7.2 km

      Therefore, ‘D’ will beat ‘F’ by = 10 – 7.2 = 2.8 km = 2800 metres
