Let the number of 50 paise coins, Rs. 1 coins and Rs. 5 coins be 3x, 4x and 2x, respectively According to the question, 3x × 0.5 + 4x × 1 + 2x × 5 = 124 Or, 1.5x + 4x + 10x = 124 Or, 15.5x = 124 Or, x = 8 Required difference = 3x – 2x = x = 8
