Question
‘X’, ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ jointly hired a machine to do
a task. If they used it for 6, 9, and 5 hours respectively, and the total cost came to Rs. 1000, how much was Z’s contribution?Solution
ATQ,
Assume cost per hour is Rs. ‘x’.
Then ‘X’, ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ paid Rs. 6x, Rs. 9x, and Rs. 5x respectively.
So, 6x + 9x + 5x = 1000
⇒ 20x = 1000
⇒ x = 50
Z’s share = 5x = 5 × 50 = Rs. 250
