Question
A fruit vendor bought 500 bananas at Rs 25 per 10
bananas. 200 bananas got spoiled and hence thrown. He sold 12 dozen bananas at the rate of Rs 20 per dozen and the remaining at Rs 3 per banana. What is the approximate profit/loss percent?Solution
C.P of bananas = 500 x 25/10 = Rs 1,250 Remaining bananas = 500 – 200 = 300 S.P of bananas sold at Rs 20 per dozens = 20 x 12 = Rs 240 S.P of bananas sold at Rs 3 per banana = (300 – 12 x 12) × 3 = Rs 468 Total S.P = 240 + 468 = Rs 708 Loss % = (1250-708)/1250 × 100 = 43.36%
