Question
Tarun bought a Toaster for Rs. 24000. After one year he
sold it to Lalit at 10% less of his cost price. Lalit spends extra Rs. 400 for its repair. And offered Toaster to Mohan for Rs.X. Mohan requested to get a discount of 22% on that price. But Lalit gave him two successive discounts of 10% and 12% instead of 22%.By this Lalit got Rs. 450 more from Mohan. What is the profit % of Lalit?Solution
Let the SP of toaster be Rs. x which is given to Mohan. x * (90/100 * 88/100 – 78/100) = 450 x * 0.012 = 450 x = 37500 Now Mohan purchased for 37500 * 90/100 * 88/100 = 29700 Lalit purchased toaster = 24000 * 90/100 + 400 = 21600 + 400 = 22000 Profit% = (29700 – 22000) x 100/22000 = 35%
