Question
Rahul bought a gadget and increased its price by 60% above
the cost price. He sold it after offering a discount of 20% for Rs. 2400. What would be the selling price if a discount of 10% was offered instead?Solution
ATQ,
Let, cost price of the gadget be Rs. 100x
Marked price = 1.60 × 100x = Rs. 160x
Selling price after discount = 0.80 × 160x = Rs. 128x
According to the question:
128x = 2400
So, x = 18.75
Desired selling price = 0.90 × 1.60 × 1875 = Rs. 2700
