    Let us Assume Average Expenditure be (x) initially The total Expenditure = 125x When 14 more Employees join the Company, total expenditure = 125x + 300 (Given in the Question) After this the expenditure decreases by Rs.220 for each employee (125x + 300)/(125 + 25) = x - 220 (125x + 300)/150 = x - 220 taking 25 common LHS 25(5x + 12)/150 = x - 220 then (25/150) x (5x + 12) = x - 220 (5x + 12)/6 = x - 220 5x + 12 = 6(x - 220) 5x + 12 = 6x - 1320 5x - 6x = -1320 - 12  - x = - 1332 or x = 1332 ∴ the original expenditure for refreshment =125 × 1332 = Rs.166500
