As we know, Area of the rectangle = xy New length of the rectangle = x × 105/100 = 1.05x New breadth of the rectangle = y × 93/100 = 0.93 New area of the rectangle = 1.05x × 0.93y = 0.9765xy Area decreased by (in %) = [(xy-0.9765xy) /xy] x 100   = 2.35%
