    Question

    Aman began a business with a certain capital. After 3

    months, Rohan joined him with Rs. 900 more than Aman had invested. If the profit at the end of the year is distributed in the ratio of 4:5 between Aman and Rohan respectively, what was the amount invested by Aman initially?
    A Rs.2450 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B Rs.3200 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C Rs.2110 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D Rs.1350 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Let Amanโ€™s initial investment be Rs. 'Y'

    So, Rohanโ€™s investment = Rs. (Y + 900)

    Profit ratio = (Y ร— 12) : {(Y + 900) ร— 9}

    ATQ,

    (Y ร— 12) รท {(Y + 900) ร— 9} = 4/5

    Or, 12Y ร— 5 = 4 ร— (9Y + 8100)

    Or, 60Y = 36Y + 32,400

    So, 24Y = 32,400

    โˆด Y = 32,400 รท 24 = Rs. 1350

    Therefore, Amanโ€™s initial investment = Rs. 1350
