Question
Aman began a business with a certain capital. After 3
months, Rohan joined him with Rs. 900 more than Aman had invested. If the profit at the end of the year is distributed in the ratio of 4:5 between Aman and Rohan respectively, what was the amount invested by Aman initially?Solution
ATQ,
Let Amanâs initial investment be Rs. 'Y'
So, Rohanâs investment = Rs. (Y + 900)
Profit ratio = (Y Ă 12) : {(Y + 900) Ă 9}
ATQ,
(Y à 12) á {(Y + 900) à 9} = 4/5
Or, 12Y Ă 5 = 4 Ă (9Y + 8100)
Or, 60Y = 36Y + 32,400
So, 24Y = 32,400
ⴠY = 32,400 á 24 = Rs. 1350
Therefore, Amanâs initial investment = Rs. 1350
