Question
A solution of 960 ml has milk and water in 1:3 ratio. If an equal quantity of milk and water is added and the new ratio becomes 2:5, calculate the value of
x.
Solution
ATQ,
Milk = (1/4) Γ 960 = 240 ml
Water = 960 β 240 = 720 ml
ATQ:
(240 + x)/(720 + x) = 2/5
β 5(240 + x) = 2(720 + x)
β 1200 + 5x = 1440 + 2x
β 3x = 240
β x = 80
