Question
In a container ratio of milk and water is 3:4. 14 litres
of mixture is removed and same quantity of water is added to the container. If the final ratio of milk and water is 3:5, find the initial quantity of mixture in the container.Solution
Let the quantity of milk and water in initial mixture be 3x and 4x respectively. Quantity of milk removed, when 14 litres of mixture is taken out, => (3/7) Γ 14 = 6 litres Quantity of water removed, when 14 litres of mixture is taken out, => (4/7) Γ 14 = 8 litres So,Β => (3x β 6)/(4x β 8 + 14) = 3/5 β 15x β 30 = 12x + 18 β 3x = 48 β x = 16 Initial quantity of mixture = 3x + 4x = 7x = 112 litres
