A mixture contains milk and water in the ratio of 3:2
respectively. If 28 litres of milk and 28 litres of water are added to this mixture, then respective ratio of milk and water changes to 10:7, respectively. Find the initial quantity of the mixture. MTSolution
Let, amount of milk and water in mixture be 3x litres and 2x litres respectively. According to question, ⇒ (3x + 28): (2x + 28) = 10:7 ⇒ 21x + 280 = 20x + 196 ⇒ 21x – 20x = 280 – 196 ⇒ x = 84 So, initial quantity of mixture = 84 × (2 + 3) = 420 litres
