Question
A mixture contains milk and water in the ratio of 3:2
respectively. If 30 litres of milk and 30 litres of water are added to this mixture, then respective ratio of milk and water changes to 10:7, respectively. Find the initial quantity of the mixture. STSolution
Let, amount of milk and water in mixture be 3x litres and 2x litres respectively. According to question, ⇒ (3x + 30): (2x + 30) = 10:7 ⇒ 21x + 210 = 20x + 300 ⇒ 21x – 20x = 300 – 210 ⇒ x = 90 So, initial quantity of mixture = 90 × (2 + 3) = 450 litres
