    Question

A pipe fills a cubical tank at the rate of 242

m3 per minute in 44 minutes. If a cylindrical tank having height same as the side of a cubical tank and the curved surface area of the cylindrical tank is 1936 m2, then find the difference between the volumes of cylindrical tank and cubical tank.
A 5256 m³ Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 8520 m³ Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 2904 m³ Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 960 m³ Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 5760 m³ Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Capacity of cubical tank = 242 × 44 = 10648 m3 Let, side of cubical tank = ‘x’ m So, x3 = 10648 m3 x = 22 m So, height of cylindrical tank = 14 m Let, radius of cylindrical tank = ‘r’ m So, 2 × 22/7 × r × 14 = 1936 r = 22 m Volume of cylindrical tank =   22/7 × 22 × 22 × 14 = 13552 m3 Required difference = 13552 – 10648 = 2904 m³
