Question
The length of a rectangular field are 51m and 30 m
respectively. A tank of length 9 m, breadth 6 m and depth 5 m is dug out at the middle of the field. The earth removed is evenly spread over the remaining part of the field. Find the rise in the level of the remaining part of the field?Solution
Volume of the earth dug out = 9 × 6 × 5 = 270 m³ The upper surface area of the field = 9 × 6 = 54 m² Total surface area of the field = 51 × 30 = 1530 m² Remaining area of the field (1530 – 54) = 1476 m² Volume of earth removed = Remaining surface area of he field × rise in level Rise in the level of the remaining part of the field = 270/1476 m = 270/1476 × 100cm = 18.29cm = 18.3cm
