      perimeter of a rectangle. The length of the rectangle is 45 cm which is 250% of its width. If a street of width 10 cm surrounds from outside the square, then find the total cost of constructing the street at the rate of Rs. 20 per sq. cm?

      Let the width of the rectangle = x cm Then, 250% of x = 45 x = 45 × 100/250 = 18 cm Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(length + width) = 2 × (45 + 18) = 126 cm Perimeter of the square = (126 + 22) = 148 cm The sides of the square = 148/4 = 37 cm The area of the square field without street = (37)2 sq. cm = 1369 sq. cm The area of the square field with street = (37 + 20)2 sq. cm = 3249 sq. cm The area of the street = 3249 – 1369 = 1880 sq. cm The total cost of constructing the street = 1880 × 20 = Rs. 37,600
