    Find the number of females in an office.

    Statement I:  The ratio of number of males to females is 5: 4. Statement II:  The number of males is 25% more than the number of females.

    Solution

    Let the number of males = x and number of females = y. From I,   => x/y = 5/4 Therefore, x  = 1.25y From II, => x = y + 25% of y = 1.25y Since both the statements give the same equation, statement I and II both are not sufficient to answer the question.
