40. He scores 88 in the next inning, raising his average by 1.6. Find the total runs scored before the last inning.Solution
Let number of innings before this one be 'P'.
Runs before = 40P
(40P + 88) / (P + 1) = 41.6
=> 40P + 88 = 41.6P + 41.6
=> 1.6P = 46.4 => P = 29
Total runs = 40 × 29 = 1160
