Total score of 38 students = (38 × 72) = 2736 Total score of top 3 scorers = 2736 – (35 × 71) = 251 To minimize the score of the top scorer, we assume the other two top scorers score the maximum they can = 77 marks each. So, the top scorer scored = 251 – 154 = 97 marks.
