Question
The average age of three children is 21 years. If their ages are in the ratio 3:5:6. Find the age of the youngest child.
Solution
Total age of three children = 21 × 3 = 63 years Let their ages be 3x, 5x and 6x respectively. => 3x + 5x + 6x = 63 => 14x = 63 => x = 4.5 Therefore the age of youngest child = 3 × 4.5 = 13.5 years
