    The term suit is not defined under the Code of Civil Procedure however, the term ordinarily means a civil proceeding instituted by presentation of a plaint. Civil suit is the institution of litigation for enforcement of civil rights.  A plaint is a statement in writing of a cause of action in which the relief claimed is set out in detail.
