Ovulation is triggered by a surge in luteinizing hormone (LH), which occurs around the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone): Stimulates the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles. Estrogen: Secreted by developing follicles; it thickens the endometrium and stimulates the LH surge. LH (Luteinizing hormone): A sudden spike in LH levels induces ovulation by causing the dominant follicle to rupture and release the egg. Progesterone: Produced by the corpus luteum after ovulation to maintain the uterine lining for possible implantation.
