    Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a concept of ‘Virtual ID’ to further protect privacy. It is a 16 digit temporary number which is mapped to real 12 digit aadhar number. This 16 digit number can be shared with authorities for verification. It provides the user the option not to share his real 12 digit aadhar number.
