With a goal to provide last mile electrical connectivity and ensure universal household electrification of all the willing rural and the urban households, the Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, also called as Saubhagya Scheme. The funds will be provided majorly by the central government to all the States and the Union Territories. It mandates that the states and union territories complete all household electrification. This scheme is in line with the Government’s agenda to provide 24/7 power for all by the year 2019.
