This test demonstrated India's indigenous capability to defend against ballistic missiles of the 5,000-km class. The Phase-I BMD system, which intercepts missiles with a range of up to 2,000 km, is already deployed. The maiden test of the Phase-II BMD system was conducted in November 2022. During the recent test, a Target Missile was launched from LC-IV Dhamra, simulating an adversary missile. The missile was detected by weapon system radars on both land and sea, which activated the Air Defence (AD) interceptor system. This successful test marks a significant advancement in India's missile defense capabilities.
