The 15-member committee is headed by Rakesh Joshi, member at Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), and it will have representatives from the healthcare and insurance industries. The committee has been asked by the regulator to identify challenges in carrying out health insurance business and make recommendations to facilitate ease. Among the terms of references, the committee has been asked to make recommendations regarding appropriate product designs, including a universal standard product that is basic and simple, keeping in mind the changing dynamics of healthcare.
